Sunday School and Nursery

Our goal is to assist our young people to grow in their life in Christ and in their knowledge and experience of the Anglican Way through their parish family of St. John’s.  The curriculum for the Sunday school program is the highly acclaimed ‘Whirl Program’ and is adapted as needed to suit our youth.  We strive to offer Sunday school in a safe and caring environment.  All of our staff and volunteers abide by the Safe R Church policy of the parish and have undergone both a police and vulnerable sector check.

The nursery takes place in the Zink Room of the Parish Hall beginning at 10:20am, every Sunday throughout the Sunday school year (September – June) and is staffed by adults and senior youth.

Sunday School

The Sunday School program takes place Sunday mornings at 10:30am in St. John’s Parish Hall.  We offer a program for preschool and school age youth.  Children and parents and Sunday school teachers, gather with the congregation in the church, where they take part in the first part of the service, which includes a welcome, a message and teaching by the Rector and a children’s hymn and prayer.  The children and teachers, proceed to the Parish Hall where the program continues.

On the Fourth Sunday of the month at 10:30am, we hold an Inter-Generational Family Service with the active participation of our Sunday school youth.   Children and families spend the morning in the service.  Please note that the nursery program continues as usual during this time in the parish hall.

Sunday School Volunteers are always welcome.

A Prayer for Sunday School

O Lord God, we thank you for the many blessings you have showered upon the Sunday School and nursery.  We pray that Your Spirit may continue to work to nourish our children, parents and teachers. O Lord, bless our Sunday School and all its future endeavors, that through it we may glorify You, and Your Father, and Your Holy Spirit, now, always, and forever. Amen.
